4th Marking Period Assessment
During this marking period, I learned a lot about what type of styles in particular that I like, and one of them specifically is painting on canvas. I did a series of 4 paintings where I layered a lot of paint in a vertical striped type of design, abstractly, and then I used scissors or the back of a paintbrush or any material I could to scratch lines in the paint to create an interesting texture. I was really proud of them. Setting up the art show installation was very exciting for me, and I was happy with how it turned out overall. I am excited with how I felt about my art this year, and I really hope that I can continue to do it outside of high school, because it is something that I really enjoy.
3rd Marking Period Self Assessment 3/23/12
During this marking period, it was my first in portfolio, so I began to explore with different mediums after doing ideas that I also like. I began making a series of charcoal drawn work from observation, while eventually that ended up including works with paint and chalk pastels as well. Then I began to experiment with textures. I did about 4 pieces that have melted crayons scraped with hot glue to create an interesting texture. It also looked pretty nice with the water colors behind it. Then for the remaining time of the third marking period, I worked in my sketchbook, attempting to generate some new ideas. I feel I was pretty motivated in this quarter, because it was my first one as a portfolio student. Next marking period is going to be my last, so I want to do even better in that one. I am very excited for the new opportunities to come as the year draws to an end!
